The Independent Living (IL) Skills program is designed to help people with disabilities in learning new and healthy independent living skills. Our staff works directly with participants and families to teach these new skills with hands-on instruction. Together we write an independent living plan to meet individual needs, such as self-esteem, meal planning, financial management, obtaining housing and transportation, and much more.
Practicing good personal hygiene, such as taking showers and brushing teeth regularly.
Taking part in activities to stay physically fit, such as joining a community Basketball team or just taking a daily walk.
Understanding the dangers of smoking, drugs, alcohol, unprotected sex and abusive behaviors.
